Research Paper Thesis: Explaining Process and Essential Steps
In writing, every work has a particular point to prove. Unless students write diaries or practice stream of consciousnesses in their writing, a concise and succinct statement, i.e. a thesis, should be introduced in the paper.
The latter is specifically important in research papers, where an indication of the main point of the paper should be introduced in the beginning. Coming with a research paper thesis is not difficult, where the process is rather sequential and structured. In that regard, the present paper will attempt to explain the process of writing a research paper thesis.
Overview and Format of a Research Paper Thesis
Defining a research paper thesis, it can be stated that it is the position taken by the author, which will be supported/proved during the course of the research. The general layout rule for a research paper thesis does not differ from other theses, i.e. the statement usually written at the end of the introductory paragraph.
It is usually preferred when a research paper thesis is stated in an explicit manner, .e.g. this paper will show, this research will support, this study will . . . , etc. In that regard, a research paper thesis is a thread, around which the whole research will revolve.
Steps in Writing a Research Paper Thesis
The main steps in formulating a research paper thesis can be seen through the following:
- Develop an idea which is derived from the topic and the discipline of your research paper.
- Conduct a research.
- As you proceed with the research, narrow the idea you developed into a hypothesis.
- Formulate the hypothesis as a single sentence in the introduction.
- Revise the statement after you finish writing, if needed.
